The Chardonnay grape rules in Meursault at 95%+, and the wines follow that lead; they are much more complex and full-bodied than some of Burgundy’s other renowned whites, and offer the palate wonderful elements of creamy butter, citrus and, to offset them all, minerals.

Some of Meursault’s most famous offerings hail from the 77-acre, premier cru Charmes vineyard, located in the southern portion of the commune, followed by those from Perrières and Genevrières. Many lieux-dits are also home to significant contributions to the global wine market, but lack the premier cru designation. Limestone is the primary soil type, fostering a healthy Chardonnay history.
